SoCal 2019
Last year we went to Southern California like we have been for the past couple of years. We’ll usually go during this little festival we love going to called Beach Goth, but they ended up moving the dates to Halloween. This is one of my favorite trips by far. I absolutely love road trips. I will always choose the long scenic way over the quick way any day. There’s always so much to see and everything feels new every single time. We’ll typically make little stops in Isla Vista, Malibu, Huntington, Newport, and end up in Laguna Beach to stay with Trevor’s uncle. This past year we made some changes. We did our normal things like go to the Vans Huntington Surf Competition and spent a few days in Laguna, but we also stayed in Encinitas for the first time, checked out San Onofre, and traveled even further to spend the day in San Diego. The furthest south I’ve been in California was San Clemente, so I was super stoked for San Diego. We happened to go on the cloudiest day of our trip and it was crowded and we didn’t plan ahead for things to see or do so it didn’t go exactly to plan, but it was still cool. I brought my Leica R4 35mm camera, as well as my Canon 310XL Super 8 which I still have to get developed, but my 35mm film came out better than I expected. I hadn’t developed film from my Leica before this trip so I had no clue if the film would even turn out. At the beginning of this year, I finally got it developed and I’m so obsessed. We’ll be taking this trip again and I’ll actually have more details, but enjoy this rough summary and some of my favorite pictures. Some of the places shown are the Billabong Laguna shop, a shop in Encinitas as well as a few beaches and other spots in Encinitas, San Clemente, and San Onofre.
