Santa Cruz Summer
Well Howdy! I haven’t written a blog post in quite some time and I’ve been having a pretty good summer so I figured I’d share it.
As of lately I’ve been taking a break from social media. I haven’t written on here. I’ve barely glanced at Instagram. I’ve just been trying to stay away since for a couple of weeks I was constantly wasting my days away on my phone. Now I’m back to actually doing stuff with my summer!
Recently I purchased a surfboard! It’s a 8’6 Catch Surf Heritage Single Fin Nose Rider. It has a white soft top with a cool design on the bottom that I feel perfectly suits me. Along with that I bought a new Sisstrevolution wetsuit! I went surfing a couple of weeks ago and rented a 9’0 surfboard from Cowells Surf Shop and had a blast! So a couple days later I borrowed a wave storm just to get even more comfortable in the water. I’ve wanted my own board since last summer and was about to buy one during our last SoCal trip but decided to wait which I’m super happy I did. Yes I could’ve had more time practicing surfing but my Catch Surf surfboard was just recently released and I’m so happy I was looking for a board right when it was. I was originally going to wait until it arrived in shops but after calling nearly every surf shop in Santa Cruz that I thought would have it they all didn’t even have it in their current shipments. I was impatient and wanted to learn now so I just ended up shipping it to my house. It’s honestly such a fresh board. I’m completely obsessed with it. I bought a pretty blue leash to match it yesterday too. Speaking of yesterday, I finally caught my first wave! It was insanely packed out there but I did it! I even have the video from Surfline to remember it forever! After that first wave I caught two more then called it a day to go get some acai from Samba Rocks (best acai in Santa Cruz no cap). It’s such a surreal feeling finally standing up on a wave! I honestly didn’t want to stop but I was starving. I’m just stoked to go back.
I’ve gone to Santa Cruz a couple of times lately for some evening beach trips. I went a couple of weeks ago with Trev to catch sunset after a family bbq then I went this past weekend with my family. It’s been so clear and warm both times I went. I would honestly love to just spend every day there lately.
I just wanted to give an update on what’s been going on. I haven’t been reading as much. Ive kinda just been hanging. The other day I went to a brewery in downtown San Jose called Happa’s and then played ultimate frisbee with a bunch of friends. It’s been a great summer so far! And I turn 23 in exactly 2 weeks! I’m trying to keep looking at the positive lately.
